Call for Proposals for the 2027 Isadora Duncan International Symposium- Radical Freedom: Dance, Liberation, and the Body
We are pleased to announce the Call for Proposals for the Isadora Duncan International Symposium, taking place in Paris from June 29–July 2, 2027. Location: Conservatoire Municipal Maurice Ravel

Theme: Radical Freedom: Dance, Liberation, and the Body
Inspired by the enduring legacy of Isadora Duncan, this international gathering will bring together artists, scholars, educators, students, and interdisciplinary practitioners from around the world for four days of dialogue, movement, research, performance, and exchange. Together, we will explore how dance engages with freedom, resistance, creativity, and the expressive potential of the body across historical, contemporary, and future perspectives.
ALL SESSION PROPOSALS SHOULD ADDRESS THE CONFERENCE THEME.
PLEASE SUBMIT ONE FORM PER PROPOSED SESSION. MAXIMUM 3 PROPOSALS PER APPLICANT.

Notification Date: December 15, 2026

Performance Presentations:
Performances will be programmed in the auditorium, the studio, or other locations-- see submission options below. Suitable for works-in-progress, excerpts, or site-responsive performances.
We look forward to gathering a dynamic international community for four days of dialogue, practice, and exchange.

Please note: The Duncan Legacy Project does not provide travel, accommodation, or participation funding. All accepted presenters are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses and must pay the symposium registration fee. Registration fees directly support the organization and operation of the symposium.
