The Isadora Duncan International Symposium is a gathering of dancers dedicated to preserving and furthering Isadora Duncan's dance legacy. The first symposium took place in 2013 at George Washington University in Washington, DC, and was organized by a Steering Committee that included Valerie Durham, Jennifer Sprowl, Cynthia Word, Ingrid , and Meg Brooker. The success of that first event led to biennial gatherings at venues including Joffrey Chicago (2015), ODC Dance Theatre, San Francisco (2017), and The Place, London (2019). IDIS has been on hiatus since the pandemic and plans to reconvene virtually in 2025 and in person to honor the centennial of Duncan's death in 2027.
